Fake calls from government agencies and banks

Calls supposedly from the National Security Committee, police or a bank, using pressure and intimidation.

How it works

  1. 01You receive a call from an unknown number.
  2. 02They introduce themselves as a government or bank employee.
  3. 03They report a "problem": a loan, an investigation, a suspicious transaction.
  4. 04They demand that you urgently give a code or transfer money.

How to protect yourself

Decisions made alone and emotionally are the scammer’s main target. It’s always worth talking it through.

End the call immediately.
Never give SMS codes to anyone.
Call the organisation back yourself using its official number.
Never share SMS codes, PINs or passwords — real bank or government staff never ask for them.
