Fraud schemes

Fake online shop

Fake websites or accounts selling goods that do not exist.

How it works

  1. 01You find an item priced below the market rate.
  2. 02The seller insists that "this is the last item" or "the sale is ending soon".
  3. 03They ask for an advance payment or an online instalment plan.
  4. 04After payment, the seller disappears or stops responding.

How to protect yourself

Decisions made alone and emotionally are the scammer’s main target. It’s always worth talking it through.

Whenever possible, pay for goods only after you receive them.
Do not take out an instalment plan or loan for an item you have not seen in person.
Check the website: its creation date, reviews and contact details.
Avoid offers with a price that seems "too good to be true".
Never prepay goods to a personal card — use secure escrow or cash-on-delivery.
